About DownRight Special
We offer support and advice to parents on all aspects of caring for a child with Down Syndrome.
We do this through:
- Visits to new parents.
- If your child has been born with a specific health issue, one of our parents who have experienced that journey would be happy to come and see you at home or in hospital. Ask the health visitor/community nurse to contact us on your behalf if that is easier. They will be happy to help.
- A weekly fun and learning session for children aged 0-3 years.
- Lending useful resources to parents.
- Training on specific issues relating to our children.
- Various social activities, e.g. BBQs, trips out, farm visits and swimming.
DownRight Special Education
The group runs on a similar pattern to many toddler groups, with the opportunity for free play on our larger toys and in the soft play area, as well as more structured activities and a sign-along time.
There's also lots of time for parents to chat over coffee, share experiences and celebrate our children's achievements together.
